Basketball updates

Well I could not have been more off with my prediction of the MSU Purdue game. After the first half I thought I was sitting pretty but then that debacle of a second half came and the Spartans went from looking like the No.5 team in the nation to a middle school "B" team, and even that might be generous.
The Spartans turned the ball over, missed simple point-blank shots and simply got physicaly dominated, something that Tom Izzo's club is used to doing to their opponents. MSU shot a dismal 33 percent from the field and turned it over 22 times, a common theme in MSU's losses this season.
It's amazing how this team can look so good at times and then come out and lay an egg like they did on Tuesday.
The Spartans still hold a lead in the Big Ten and need to finish strong down the stretch if they want to win a league title. Their next contest comes this Sunday against a struggling Wisconsin team. The Badgers are MSU's biggest rival over the past few years and this game pretty much qualifies as a "must win" for the Spartans.
All though my last prediction could not have been more off, i'm going to forget about that and move on. This game will be close but I'm going to stick with my gut instinct and predict a low-scoring grind it out victory for Sparty.
Prediction: MSU 56, Wisconsin 49

Spartans Looking strong down big ten stretch

The Spartans came off a much needed road victory on Tuesday against those hated Wolverines and improved to 20-4 overall and 10-2 in the big ten. MSU has a nice lead over Purdue and Illinois in the big ten championship and if they take care of business, they should be on their way to a big ten title.
Im gonna take this time to talk about the play and development of the Spartans current freshman class. Two freshman, Draymond Green and Delvon Roe have been the best players on the court in the Spartans past two games and are blooming at just the right time. Both these kids were highly touted freshman and fans have been waiting for them to come around and start being the breakout players that they were in high school. Both have developed into tremendous rebounders, which is what this team has been known for during all their championship runs. If Roe and Green continue to develop watch out for this team come tournament time. I don't see the Spartans dropping another game this season and they should be a 2 seed in the big dance.
Their biggest game to this point of the season is coming up on Tuesday Feb.17 at Purdue, if the Spartans win that game then they control their own destiny.

Sean's prediction: Watch for Kalin Lucas to be big on the offensive end for the Spartans.  Goran Suton will post another double-double and Delvon Roe will have another solid performance. This game stays close until the end when Lucas becomes too much for the Boilermakers.
MSU 67, Purdue 62

Cousy Award Finalists named and No Kalin Lucas!

ESPN announced today their 17 finalists for the Cousy Award, given to the nations best point guard and Kalin Lucas was not on the list. This is an apsolute outrage.. He is the best player on a top 15 team in the country who makes everyone around him better. Lucas did not make the list and some no-name guard from Virginia Commonwealth is on there? What has Virginia Commonwealth done this season? The only players on this list that are deserving are Curry, Lawson and Collison...Top player on a top team, put the kid on this list where he deserves!
